How to get Iran visa

We recommend that Travelers, who wish to visit Iran apply through authorized travel agencies (including us) because approval rates from these official travel agencies are high and it is speedy and easy; All nationalities except Israel can apply for an Iran Entry Visa. Passport holders of Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Georgia, Malaysia, Syria, and Venezuela, do not need a tourist visa and they just stamp their passport at the airport.

For Americans, British and Canadians, the visa process is a little different.

In general, the maximum validity of a traveler’s stay with a tourist visa is 30 days and they are regarded as a single entry. If you would like to stay for more than 30 days, the visa should be extended to the Police Department of Aliens Affairs in a major Iranian city. The offices are open from Saturday to Wednesday.

Enter Iran without a visa? Visa-free zones:

There are some Iranian free trade zones where all nationals eligible for VOA can enter without a visa and stay up to 14 days. You can travel to Qeshm IslandKish IslandChahbaharMakuArvandAnzali, and Aras without an Iran visa and stay there for 14 days to extend your stay, you can pay an amount of money at the affiliated offices to MFA in Iran.

Note: if you want to exit the free zones and enter other cities of Iran, you will need a visa.

There are three steps to get an Iranian Tourist visa

Visa Application process

First step:

Please fill out the Iran visa form and send it to us with the document you need (passport and scan of your picture in size of 4 cm in 6 cm,  American, Canadian, British, and Irish citizens need to prepare a resume)

Second step:

We will submit your applications to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, based on your nationality when your visa code gets ready (Generally for most nationalities it will take around 7-10 days and for Americans, British, and Canadians, it will take 1-3 months.) MFA sends us an authorization code or reference number (it means that your visa is ready), and then we will send it to you.

Third step:

With this code, you need to refer to the Iranian embassy/consulate, (which you mentioned in your visa form), and complete some other paperwork such as filling out a visa form, delivering 2 pictures (1 in 1 inch), and original passport to stamp your visa.

Note:

Please call the Iranian consulate to make sure they receive your visa code before going there.


The needed documents to stamp your visa:

  1. A valid passport with at least 6 months validity.
  2. Visa authorization code
  3. 2 pieces of 1 in 1-inch pictures
  4. A confirmed return ticket
  5. Visa stamp fee

Tourist Visa consists of two costs:

VISA PROCESS FEE

  1. The money that you give to the travel agency to get your approval number. (If you buy a whole package from us, we apply for your visa-free as a gift.)

VISA STAMP FEE

  1. Stamp fee, which is different depending on your nationality. You should pay in Iran’s embassy in your country.

Notes:

1. Regarding your visa place of issue, you must specify where you want to collect your visa when you fill out your application form; you can choose Iran International Airport or the Iran Embassy in your country.

2. You can apply for your visa in person, but individuals applying have experienced high rejection rates and long waiting times, if you would like to apply for your Iran visa individually refer to the website of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

3. To stamp your passport in your mentioned embassy, you must provide your passport, the visa fee, 2 passport photos, and an insurance policy. Some consulates may have different requirements. You must check this before submitting your application.

4. Iran visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue. You can enter and depart Iran during this time.

5. Please prepare euros for the compulsory health insurance fee at Iran Airport. Please pay with an exact cash amount. Credit cards are not accepted in Iran.


Visa process for the American, British, and Canadian citizens:

These nationalities are permitted to travel to Iran ONLY through official government-approved escorted tours. It means they can’t travel individually inside Iran, and the Visa process for these nationalities is a little different. It may take 45 working days so they need to make up their mind at least 3 months ago.

List of Needed Documents: 

  • Good quality personal photo with a white background
  • Full-page passport photo which shows below code completely, with at least 6 months validity
  • Filled application form

List of Required Documents for American, British, and, Canadian Citizens:

  • Good quality personal photo with a white background
  • Full-page passport photo which shows below code completely, with at least 6 months validity
  • Travel itinerary
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae – You may be required to provide information about your current and previous education and work history.
  • Filled application form

Visa on arrival (VOA VISA)

All nationalities can have visas on arrival, except Americans, Canadians, and the British, citizens of Somalia, Bangladesh, Jordan, India, Columbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

VOA visa has 14-30 days validity and is issued at international airports of Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Tabriz, Mashhad, and Kish. The process is very easy and clear, and also, it’s possible to extend it even at immigration offices in all the big cities for another 14 to 30 days depending on the case.

presently all visitors can apply through the Iranian government’s e-visa website Iranian government’s e-visa website at least 2 days in advance and collect it on arrival at major international airports.

Upon your arrival, you will hand the submission receipt to the visa officer at the airport and receive your VOA.

you can send your documents to us and we start applying for your visa. As soon as we receive your visa authorization number, we will send it to you. and you need to keep it with yourself and stamp it at one of the main airports of Iran.

Needed document for VOA visa:

A confirmed return tickets

A valid passport with at least 6 months validity

A Valid travel insurance

You have to apply online for the visa before your departure and have received your visa grant notice or at least your visa submission notice (According to the Iranian MFA announcement, having an Iran Visa Grant Notice is MANDATORY to be able to collect a visa on arrival.)

A photo to be attached to your Iran visa application form (It is not obligatory to use a picture with hijab)

The visa stamp fee, that you pay at the Iran visa & passport office at the airport is different for each nationality. (You need to pay some amount of money in euros.)

It varies between 20 and 150 Euros. for all European nationals is 75 Euros.

 Which airports are issuing Iran visas on arrival?

At the moment Visitors may collect their e-VOA from 12 international airports inside Iran:

AWZ: Ahwaz International Airport, BND: Bandar Abbas International Airport, BUZ: Bushehr International Airport, GSM: Qeshm International Airport, IKA: Tehran Imam Khomeini Airport, ISF: Isfahan International Airport, KER: Kerman International Airport, KIH: Kish International Airport, MHD: Mashhad International Airport, OMH: Urmia International Airport, SYZ: Shiraz International Airport, TBZ: Tabriz International Airport.

All Iran Visa police offices, travel insurance agencies, and bank branches are open 24/7 at these international airports.

Note:

According to the MFA, the e-VOA will be refused for Journalists or reporters traveling for the purpose of work Holders of diplomatic passports, and those whose applications were previously refused.


PHOTO REQUIREMENTS

  • In color
  • In JPEG (.jpg) file format
  • Equal to or less than 240 kB (kilobytes) in file size (less than 10 kB is not accepted)
  • Taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance
  • Do not wear a hat or head covering that obscures the hair or hairline unless worn daily for a religious purpose. Your full face must be visible, and the head covering must not cast any shadows on your face.
  • When taking a photo of your baby or toddler, no other person should be in the photo, and your child should be looking at the camera with his or her eyes open.


PASSPORT COPY REQUIREMENTS

  • In color
  • In JPEG (jpg) file format
  • Equal to or less than 500 KB (kilobytes) in file size (less than 10 KB is not accepted)
  • Only the first page. full-length images are not acceptable.
  • Clear and all characters must be readable.
