Touring Iran’s villages | Iran’s rural life Tour
The trip between culture and landscape
In recent years, rural tourism in Iran has grown according to domestic and international demand.Iran has a huge potential for rural tourism due to its various rural forms.
The following types of villages are observed in Iran: Desert villages, Mountain villages, Forest villages, Coastal villages
Desert villages
In desert villages, houses are usually made of thatch and formed on flat land. Their walls are made thick and windbreaks are used to cool the house during the warmer months of the year.
The residents of these villages are forced to transfer the water they need from the surrounding mountains to their settlements through the aqueduct system. Agriculture is limited, but the production of handicrafts as a more popular source of income is prevalent among its people.
Mountain villages
In mountainous villages, stepped architecture is the predominant method of house building in villages. Houses are built on the slopes of hills and mountains to be less exposed to extreme cold in winter. The yard of each house is the roof of the lower house. This will keep the houses warmer in the winter.
Farmers make a living by raising livestock, producing dairy products, producing wool for carpet weaving, and making handicrafts are also very common among mountain villagers.
Rural tourism enthusiasts can also see the close relationship between man and nature.
Forest villages
In forest villages, people’s houses are covered with trees or located on relatively flat plains.
Depending on the type of forest, the villagers may use wood or stone to build their houses. The inhabitants of such villages produce dairy products, honey, and dried fruits for a living.
Coastal villages
In coastal villages, houses are built to be resistant to moisture.
Iranians love rural tourism in coastal villages. The houses of these villagers have covered balconies and sloping roofs. They are usually made on one or two floors. People are often engaged in agricultural fishing. They produce agricultural products such as vegetables and fruits. Some handicrafts are also made, but not on a large scale.
Rural tourism in Iranian villages near the sea can show how much the lives of the people living in these areas depend on the sea. They are usually happy people who have fewer challenges than desert dwellers and mountaineers.
